I publish my prices because guessing games waste everyone's time. Here is exactly what I charge, what changes the number, and why foothill cars cost what they cost.
I will give you the numbers before anything else, because that is what you came here for. My Interior Only Detail starts at $149. My Standard Interior/Exterior Detail, which covers interior and exterior, is $189. My Standard Interior/Exterior Detail is $189 for a sedan, $209 for a small SUV or truck, and $189 for a minivan or 3-row SUV. Headlight restoration starts at $50 to start. Exterior-only details and my eco waterless details are quoted, because those depend heavily on the specific car and where it parks.
Those are real prices, not starting-at teasers designed to get me in your driveway so I can renegotiate. If your car fits the service, that is what you pay. The only time a number changes is when the job itself changes: a third row full of dog hair, paint that needs correction rather than wax, an odor that needs real extraction work. I will always tell you before I start, never after.
One more thing worth saying plainly: I do every job myself. There is no crew, no trainee finishing your seats while I start the next car. When you compare my prices to a shop or a bigger mobile outfit, you are comparing against the person whose name is on the work.
Size is the honest reason a minivan costs more than a sedan. A 3-row SUV has roughly twice the carpet, more seat surfaces, more glass, more door jambs, and more plastic trim than a Civic. Every one of those surfaces gets touched in a detail, so the time adds up in a very predictable way. That is why my Standard Interior/Exterior Detail has three tiers instead of one number that quietly punishes sedan owners or shortchanges minivan owners.
Condition is the other half. A commuter that runs the 210 every day and gets vacuumed occasionally is a different job than the same car after two years of kids, coffee, and weekend trips up to Deukmejian with the dog. Embedded pet hair, dried spills in cupholders, and sap from parking under the same tree all take real time to do right. When condition pushes a job past what the base price covers, I quote the difference up front and you decide.
The Crescenta Valley is genuinely hard on paint, and it shows up in my pricing conversations constantly. Our water is hard, and sprinkler overspray is everywhere. If your car catches the neighbor's sprinklers every morning, those mineral spots bake into the clear coat under the afternoon sun. Light spots wipe away in a normal wash. Etched spots need dedicated water spot removal, and that is extra labor no honest detailer can fold into a $189 price.
Then there is the sun itself. Strong UV at this elevation fades black trim gray, chalks unprotected paint, and yellows headlights, which is why headlight restoration and black trim restoration exist as their own services. Fire season adds ash, which is abrasive and mildly corrosive when it gets damp. Spring adds pollen. A trip to a dusty trailhead lot adds a film of fine grit. None of this means huge bills, it just explains why two identical cars can get different quotes.
Some services have no honest size-based price, so I quote them individually: paint correction, machine polishing, light scratch and scuff removal, smoke and mildew odor removal, pet hair removal beyond light shedding, engine detailing, and water spot removal. The range on these is wide because the problems range from mild to severe. A few water spots on the hood is a small add-on. A whole car etched by a summer of sprinkler overspray is a half day of careful machine work.
Getting a real number is easy. Text me a few photos at (818) 797-5396, tell me the year and model, and be honest about the rough spots. Photos of the worst areas help me more than photos of the good ones. I can usually give you a firm quote from that, and if I need to see it in person, I will say so rather than guess low and surprise you later. I bring my own water and power, so there is nothing for you to set up.
The price also covers accountability. One person quotes the job, does the job, and answers for the job. If something is not right, you are talking to the person who held the towel, not a manager relaying a message. That is worth something, and it is built into every price on this page.
